Grade Exams

Upon completion of a grade, the dancer will be given an official An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha certificate in Irish Dancing. Each grade must be passed before a dancer may attempt the next grade. When a dancer completes all 12 grades, they will be awarded with “The Diploma of the Irish Dancing Commission”.

Next grade exams TBC.

The grade examinations aim to ensure that dancers at all levels learn the basics of each dance and that each dancer is given guidance on how to improve their dancing. The exams are different from competitions, as the focus is more on the individual. Feedback is given to each dancer, highlighting their good points as well as the things they need to improve on. Each dancer receives the individual attention of the examiner, as they perform each dance on their own. In all there are 12 grades plus a preliminary grade, with different dances specified for each grade.

The Delaney Academy holds grade examinations in March/April every year.
